PRO SCRIPTWRITER TRANSLATION SERVICE – AND ENGLISH LANGUAGE DIALOUGE FIX
Hire a pro scriptwriter to translate your script to English, and make sure the dialogue works.
Hey – this isn’t a normal translation service for scriptwriters (I don’t do that). This is an English translation service for pro scriptwriters (or at least very serious screenwriters who don’t have English as a first language).
When you write a screenplay in your native tongue – and then get it translated to English – a hell of a lot can be lost in the translation.
LOST IN TRANSLATION
I’ve worked with a few pro scriptwriters who have written films (and had them made) in their own countries and in the UK and USA – despite English not being their first language – its not a big deal, and let’s be honest Billy Wilder – one of the greatest Hollywood scriptwriters of all time – didn’t have English as his first language. What Billy did, was painstaking make sure he learned and understood the inns and outs of English, with specific focus on Americanisms and English as its SPOKEN (and often not written), and that’s where my services can be useful.
Getting your script translated into English is fine, and its your first step – before trying to enter the English language film market (USA, Canada and UK). But does your translator understand dialogue? And the rhythm of speech? Does your translator understand the difference between ‘We are’ and ‘we’re’ the difference between ‘we will’ and ‘we’ll’ between ‘I’ll be back’ and ‘I will be back’ Not sure? Because that’s where you need me.
I WILL BE BACK doesn’t work the way I’LL BE BACK does
A good translator often doesn’t understand that film script dialogue needs to be spoken word, so ‘contractions’ where words are shortened purposedly in speech, are one of the most common problems that translations bring up for scriptwriters who don’t have English as a first language.
From the basic translation point of view, the translator is writing out the words correctly in English – but a translator isn’t an experienced dialogue writer – and if you’re just using a basic translation service for your screenplay – the written work, when translated to American (or British) dialogue can sound very stilted and unnatural. That isn’t your writing often – it’s the way the translator has translated your script.
SCRIPTWRITERS ENGLISH TRANSLATION SERVICE – with dialogue polish
So, if you’re a writer working in any other language other than English (UK or USA) then you run the risk of making your great work (in your language) not translate well to spoken (dialogue) English.
Anyway, it’s hard to explain, but if you’ve landed on this page, my guess is that you’re a pro or semi pro scriptwriter and you know (and worry about) exactly what service I’m offering here.
WORKABLE DIALOUGE BETTER THAN A BASIC TRANSLATION
I read your script – assess it – and can then help you turn the stilted (clumsily translated dialogue) back into workable dialogue – and good dialogue at that.
