Greed (2019)

4th July 2020 @matcoop 0

As a script writer for hire and UK script consultant I caught up with Michael Winterbottom’s ‘Greed’ this week. A kind of comedy biography of a UK retail tycoon, not unlike Arcadia Group’s disgraced (but still stomping around) ‘Sir’ Phillip Green (last time I call him ‘Sir’ here).

Untraceable (2008)

22nd June 2020 @matcoop 0

As a a script writer for hire and UK script consultant I’m a massive Diane Lane fan boy, and this weekend I dug out Untraceable from 2008, a ‘Silence of The Lambs’ style serial killer film, with an internet slant.

The Vast of Night (2019)

13th June 2020 @matcoop 0

As a a script writer for hire and UK script consultant I really enjoyed The Vast of Night (2019), an odd, old fashioned treat of a sci-fi film. Despite enjoying it a lot, it did get on my nerves from time to time (especially early on), and I’m not sure it’s for everyone.

Da 5 Bloods (2020)

13th June 2020 @matcoop 0

As a a script writer for hire, UK Script editor  and UK script consultant I don’t really make Oscar predictions (or care particularly about the Oscar’s) but […]

The Wizard of Lies (2017)

13th June 2020 @matcoop 0

At the start of this blogpost I have to point out that The Wizard of Lies (2017) is a HBO TV Movie, that is, a TV movie, premiering on the small screen and starring Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer and directed by Barry Levinson.

Script consultant reviews Extraction (2020)

5th June 2020 @matcoop 0

As a busy UK script consultant I still make time to watch as many new films as possible (even if, for the most part, I prefer older films). At the moment you can’t get much newer than Extraction (2020) a new film from director and stunt co-ordinator Sam Hargrave.

Down by Law (1986)

30th May 2020 @matcoop 0

As the busiest UK script consultant and script writer for hire in the business, I’m a big fan of Jim Jarmusch. I think ‘Mystery Train’ is one of my favourite films. ‘Night on Earth’ is fabulous too. Wonderful cinema.

Birth (2004)

30th May 2020 @matcoop 0

As the busiest UK script consultant and script writer for hire in the business I’m a big fan of director Jonathon Glazer. ‘Sexy Beast’ is a great fun movie, and ‘Under the Skin’ is a masterpiece I think. Birth (2004) falls somewhere in between and maybe down the cracks as well.

The Red Sea Diving Resort (2019)

24th May 2020 @matcoop 0

I’ve been glued to Netflix in the past few weeks, watching as many originals as I could. As well as Triple Frontier which I blogged about today also (see previous post) I also watched The Red Sea Diving Resort as well, another film (and Netflix original), which tries hard and just falls short.
