Wow, it’s been (quite literarily) a mental three or four months. But, I am pleased to say that my debut feature film as a director – Markham, is coming together nicely in post production, and we’re receiving lots of interest from distribution companies keen to help us get the film in front of as many people as possible – be it on Amazon streaming, VOD, Netflix or good old fashioned DVD and Blu-Ray.
The film was shot peace-meal throughout 2019. On a very low budget, myself and a very small crew have managed to put together a film that is disturbing, though provoking, sometimes funny and in parts downright terrifying. Most of all, it’s dripping with atmosphere – the black and white photography, synth score and the use of super 8mm in parts of the film marks it as ‘arty horror’ but really it’s a fond throwback to the works of John Carpenter, Lucio Fulci and the early works of David Lynch.
I don’t want to say too much at the moment, as all being well, you’ll be able to see the film yourself in a couple of months.
On top of the nuts and bolts work of shooting and editing a feature film I’ve also picked up little bits of script writing work over the last few months of the year and I’m still available as a script writer for hire, UK Script editor and script doctor.
Keep an eye on the blog in 2020 as I update you on Markham, let you know how we made it, and follow the story as the film is released. We are marketing the film online (and free stuff will be available) and we’ll need your help and support.
Hopefully Markham, will be the first of many films we’ll launch independently starting in 2020, and myself and the team have a couple of other horror projects in development. We’re looking for bigger budgets and more backing for our larger projects.
Below are some screenshots from Markham. Keep checking back over the coming weeks as we prepare to launch the film.
