Barry Levinson made a really good film about ‘the boys’ chatting. The film was called Diner and is worth seeing. However, he made another film about men chatting, also in and around the diner called Tin Men. Tin Men is a great film.
The chat is very funny, the performances are career best, and for once Danny Devito appears perfectly cast (he’s also brilliant in Coppola’s ‘The Rainmaker’). Tin Men is about salesmen in Baltimore, and the sales chat is hilarious.
The cast are great and feature some older stand-up comedians. Also in there is Barbara Hershey who is lovely and sweet as Devito’s wife. There are great cars and some great music from the Fine Young Cannibals.
Levinson had a big hit with Rain Main, Bugsy was also worth watching, but his best two films are Diner and Tin Men – long chats in the diner that stretch until late in the night. The trailer is below…
So, 63 films to go…
